Welcome to the Parish Pastoral Council of SOLH!
The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) developed in the Catholic Church as a way of encouraging the participation of the whole parish community in the life and mission of the Church.
Its roots can be traced especially to the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965), which emphasized the dignity and responsibility of all baptized people and called for greater collaboration between clergy and laity. After the Council, many dioceses and parishes began establishing pastoral councils to promote this shared responsibility.
A Parish Pastoral Council is generally a consultative body that assists the parish priest in understanding the needs of the parish and in planning and coordinating its pastoral activities. It brings together representatives of different groups and communities within the parish.
The New Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) of Shrine of Our Lady of Good Health, A. C. Guards, Khairatabad, was formed in the year 2022 under the guidance and support of our Rector and Parish Priest Fr. Michael Selvaraj. The PPC team comprises of 11 laity members (8 elected/3 nominated), 2 Convent Nuns, and 3 Shrine Priests.
The main purposes of a PPC are to:
- Promote communion and unity among parishioners.
- Encourage the active participation of the laity.
- Study the pastoral needs of the parish.
- Help prepare and implement pastoral plans and programs.
- Coordinate parish ministries, associations, and communities.
- Strengthen the parish’s mission of evangelization and service.
Today, the PPC is an important means of shared responsibility and pastoral collaboration, helping the parish priest and parishioners work together to build a vibrant Christian community.
